What is the perineum?
In women, the perineum is the area between the anus and the vulva (vaginal opening). There is a great deal of pressure exerted on this area during childbirth and it is common to experience some bruising and discomfort after your baby has been born.
An episiotomy is an incision made into the area around the vaginal opening (perineum) either towards the anus or at an oblique angle, to enlarge the space through which the baby must pass.
This is generally done to expedite delivery or to prevent spontaneous tearing of the perineum as a controlled cut was often thought to heal better than a random tear.
By taking steps to prepare the perineum for birth and following correct childbirth procedures, the need for an episiotomy can be drastically reduced and recovery time shortened.
The natural way
A well-prepared mother can greatly reduce the need for an episiotomy, which should only be performed when necessary and for the benefit of the mother and baby, rather than the convenience of the delivery team.
In addition, natural and homeopathic remedies can help to prepare the perineum for birth and greatly ease common tenderness following any birthing process, whether an episiotomy was a required procedure or not. Cold packs or compresses placed on the perineum can help to relieve the worst of the discomfort during the first few days after delivery.

How do I use Easiotomy Cream?
DIRECTIONS
Easiotomy Cream can be used both before and after birth to prepare and soothe the perineum. For a few weeks before birth, the cream should be lightly massaged into the perineal area one to three times a day, after cleansing. After birth, gently apply the cream once or twice a day after cleansing.
How long until I see results?
Easiotomy Cream should be used consistently up to the moment of childbirth. The perineal area will be nourished from the first application and begin the gradual preparation for childbirth. After childbirth, the soothing and restorative properties of Easiotomy Cream will be felt almost immediately.
How long will a tube last?
Each Easiotomy Cream is presented as a 20g tube, and is to be used during the weeks prior to and after birth. One tube should last on average between 3-4 weeks as a little goes a long way.
